Hi everyone. I'm building a new computer soon, and this will be my first attempt at overclocking a CPU. I'm trying to decide between the e6700 or the e6750 when it's released. I've heard that the e6750 overclocks very well, but would it be better to have the e6700 due to the higher muliplier (10x i think) than the e6750 with the 8x?

I have the option of either buying a slightly used e6700 for $100 from a friend or waiting until July 22nd and buying a e6750 for the ~180 price. At this price point, the e6700 looks like the best choice, but would I be kicking myself later for missing out on the new G0 stepping?

I don't know, will you? There isn't a colossal difference between an e6700 @3.4Ghz and an e6750 @3.7...etc. From your post, it sounds like price is an important factor, if that's the case then no doubt the e6700 at $100 provides an outstanding value.

If I were you, I'd get the e6700. The higher multiplier will help you more when overclocking and the $100 price tag is hard to beat especially since its being sold to you by friend.

Get an E6700 and spend the money you saved on a quality HSF like Tuniq 120 Tower combined with arctic silver 5 paste for the best performance.
You won't regret it.

I'm quite skeptical about the O/C abilities of the new 1333fsb chips, because of the very high fsb that will be required. Hopefully my fears will be put to rest when the actual results start rolling in.

that is exactly my thoughts you will already be pressing the FSB 333 with low multi so i would imagine the MB will be limiting things.
