Overclocking a Duron?

I am just wondering if one needs to do anything physically to overclock a Duron, say 750?

For future reference, there is a CPU/Overclocking forum that could handle this post most effectively. 😉 In answer to your question, yes. The Duron chips need to have their mulitplier unlocked by shorting the L1 bridges. Here's a site that shows the process step by step.

I have an Duron 800 coming that I wanna OC also. Just to make things clear.....We need to connect ALL 4 of the L1 bridges right?

Yes, connect all four of the L1 bridges. Be careful not to inter-connect them.

Yup, just make sure you get a real sharp #2 pencil and connect all of the L1 bridges. I picked up a Duron 850 a couple months ago for $35 and it's running @ 1.1ghz in my KK266-R...good deal if you ask me! 🙂

don't connect anything but the voltage bridges (L3 i believe?) to set it to 1.85v if your mainboard doesn't support voltage tweaks..

i'd only do a fsb o/c with a 750 and 800mhz duron, since it'll yield the best performance figures.

i have this duron 800 that i'm typing on now o/ced to ~1ghz (124mhz fsb/mem) on an ECS K7S5A...rock solid...1064 is a little awry, so...

If he doesn't unlock it..he won't be able to run a 133mhz FSB which is really where the best performance results come from. I would rather have a Duron running @ stock speed with a higher FSB than a high speed with a sub 133mhz FSB. Just my opinion though...

My Duron 850 handles a 147FSB like a champ. I can acually get it higher, but the system is using some older 5400 RPM drives and I doubt they would last at anything higher...

I used to run a Duron 600@1000 with a 143mhz bus with a 7x multiplier, worked great!

I have a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE board, and it lets me adjust the FSB in the BIOS. What I'm worried about is if I do the multiplier-unlocking mod on my Duron, if the BIOS will not be able to adjust the multiplier. (I'm concerned because Gigabyte does not seem to have the best reputation for overclocking options)

I also have a ECS K7S5A and a Duron 800.

Once I connect the L1 bridges then what??.....How do I adjust the FSB and Multiplier?? I didnt see anything in the Bios or Jumpers on the board to change the setting. Im hoping to run it atleast 1gig. Any help please?
