Overclocking a Duron 750??

Just wondering what OC'ing speed people have had with this paticular CPU, and what speeds can I expect? Im hoping on hitting 1Ghz, But hey, You never know till you tinker with it, Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Try overclockers workbench here. This gives you week, and average/top speed. 1ghz is quite common, but 900 is almost a given.

yeah it is almost infailable to reach 900 Mhz. but you have to raise the core voltage .35 more than the original 1.5v so 1.85 should be the voltage. i have a 800 Duron and i succesfully overclocked it to 1.2 GHz. and it is Completly Stable😀

I just have one more question.. About cooling, when everyone says stable, Is this with the original cooling, or will I need more fans to help cool her down.. What type of fans should I get for a Duron 750@1Ghz with a standard AMD 750 cooling fan.

Also, whats this pencil trick, Is that something you actually do with a pencil to cool down your system!?

Tnx.

Ok, you need a good HSF (heatsink/fan) to stay cool at 1ghz. Try a taisol, a Global win fop 32 or fop 38 (what I use), or one recommended for 1ghz socket A processors by AMD. Use a good thermal compound. A couple of case fans is a good idea, too. My stock HSF got me to 900, but couldn't keep up with 1ghz.

The pencil trick allows you to unlock the CPU multiplier lock by closing the L1 bridges on the face of the processor. Anandtech, Tom's Hardware, and just about every other hardware website have instructions on this. you can't fsb overclock a Thunderbird like a Celeron. I prefer to use the conductive ink method of closing the L1 bridges, as it is more permanant, and gave me a higher yield. (use conductive ink or paint like "loctite rear window defogger grid repair kit" to close the bridges instead of graphite)
