I just received my Duron 750 today and don't really know if I am able to overclock it or not. Can someone tell me if it is overclockable. I understand that I have to have a chip that needed me to color in with a pencil. Can someone tell me how to do that and , preferably show me a picture? Thanks.

I've been trying to find detailed instructions on this as well. I have a TBird 1ghz, and would also like to know how far it can go withought doing anything extra with cooling (besides amd CPU fan, 2 case fans, chipset fan)

Anyone???

ok this depends on chip quality, week, weather conditions, motherboard, core sealant color and about 200 other things inside the chip itself. Nobody can tell you how far it will go EACH CPU IS DIFFERENT. You need an asus a7v, abit kt7 or msi k7t pro2 to o/c. You must conect the l1 bridges on the cpu to allow the bp fidd pins to overide the multiplier. You also need to up the voltage to reach higher speed(most people use 1.9)

Ok, I have the Kt7, and I understand what needs to be done, but I'm a visual person. Anyone have pictures of the bridges connected the correct way?

I don't really care if I get much out of it or not. An extra 100 mhz or so would be fine.

hey silverback... I saw your pictures and I was wondering if you colored it in or did you just connected them? Are you just supposed to color in the lines? Also, I have a duron 750 and asus a7v. Do I overclock with jumpers or in the bios? thanks for your help.

Thanks!! I was expecting something much more complex than that.
I'm gonna buy me some of that locktite stuff :D

I'm fairly new to this, but I'll try.
Yes, your Duron is overclockable. I'm not sure how the Asus motherboard is set up though. I believe they can be set to work either way. BIOS is the easiest way to do it, no opening the case to change something. The ABIT is completely jumperless, which is all I've ever bought.

This thread has a good step by step of how to connect the bridges:
Unofficial Overcloking Instruction: How to apply the Loctite Rear Window Defogger Kit.

Hi Itsmeeh,
The Asus A7V has dip switches to change the multiplier. Here is a link to a table that has them to show you. How to set your dip switches.......

To unlock the cpu all you need is a fine mechanical pencil. The graphite will conduct a small current between the L1 bridges, this will unlock the cpu.
Just draw like in my picture. Thats it, nothing else...
Your motherboard will do the rest.
I'm running my voltage at 1.85 at this speed and it's completely stable.

I liked it :)
I posted a link on our page for others to share your experience.

I know this sounds crazy but if you have soldering skills and access to an iron, this makes for the best possible connection of the L1 bridges. I soldered mine, desoldered them and soldered them again on my Duron 600 and have been running stable at 978MHz for about 2 months now. I haven't heard of others doing this so be afraid... be very afraid.

Yeah, soldering is not a great idea. Not only would it generally be problematic to try to get the solder to stick, but it is also a concern that the heat generated when soldering may damage the chip.
