Overclocking a 7870

Hello everyone, I just received my HIS Radeon 7870 IceQ X the other day and am just getting around to messing around with it. My question to you all is where I can find an overclocking guide for this beast. It's been awhile since I've attempted to OC a graphics card, the last one being a nVidia 8800GT (awhile ago I know!). I've read different places that it isn't too hard to OC the 7000 series cards, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are there any certain programs I can use to test my overclock out besides like 3DMark 11 and 3DMark Vantage?

I'd recommend Unigine Heaven 3.0 or just play the games you have for about 1-2 hours at a time. I don't recommend MSI Kombuster, Furmark, OCCT, etc.. since they push the card sooo far, it down throttles itself. Also, your GPU can appear to be stable in benchmarks and GPU stress testing programs and crash in 3 minutes during actual gaming.

Can someone tell me where I could find the latest version of Direct X 11. I'm trying to run it and keep getting this error: DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE. Someone told me that I need to update to the latest drivers for my GPU and ensure I have the most recent update for DX11.

So I was able to get my card's core clock OC'd to 1250 Hz and the memory clock to 1450 Hz and it seemed to run stably. I tried it at 1300 first and ran Kombustor and it failed. Tried it with 1250 and it ran for over 2 minutes at 98% load and 67 degrees C. Is this around what most people can get with this card?

1150 core is the average.

Several sites say they were able to get their memory clock up to 5.4 ghz, but the OC utility only goes up to 1450 MHz. Is this value mutliplied by 4 or something to get the value they are getting in their benchmarks?

Yep, the value is multiplied by 4.
