Overclocking a 2.6Ghz P4-800FSB

I was just given a new Dell desktop with a 2.6Ghz P4-800Mhz FSB, and I was wondering if it is possible, and relatively safe, to overclock the CPU with the cooling systems already present. It is a Dimension 4600 model, and I am new to the world of wringing more performance from my system by overclocking. Can anyone help me out?

Never seen a Dell with any overclocking features.
Now step away from that reply button...further...further...okay I think the forum is safe now.

Great chip, although as Diehardware said dell doesnt have OCing options.

its the mobo, it doesnt have oc options, you cant swap it out cause nothing else will fit in the case, and if you get a new case, the psu wont fit. and even if the mobo could oc, dell uses the bare minimum cooling (for a quiet system) so running it any hotter would cause a meltdown.

Dude, all you need to overclock that Dell is a better heatsink, and ClockGen, which is a Windows-based overclocking utility. It's excellent, if I do say so myself... Of course, since the mobo doesn't have a PCI/AGP lock, you aren't going to get anywhere near what you would get if you had a real motherboard!

ya, if ya really want to overclock your gonna want to get a new motherboard, which as said above would mean that ur gonna need a new case and power supply and ofcourse a new hs/f. I dont know if you are willing to go that far just to overclock, but maybe you are
2.6Cs overclock decently. i got a 1.040ghz overclock out of mine so far.
but im running watercooling (soon to be direct die phase change) and a nice mobo. with air u would prolly be able to get around 3.2 which isnt bad at all.

Someone tell me what "direct die phase change" is. So, it's better than watercooling??
