overclocking a 1.8A to 2.4

<DIV>I have a Pentium 4 1.8 Northwood cpu running on an Albatron PX845PEV Pro 845PE board. I was told that OCing the cpu to 2.4 gig should be a relatively easy and safe overclock on this board. Is it true that this isn't pushing the CPU too far? I'm using the stock HSF at this point. My case temp is 36 degrees Celsius and my CPU temp is 39 degrees Celsius. I trust these are within whatever the safe range is. Anyway, assuming it is a reasonable overclock, how do I go about actually doing it? Thanks for any help you can pass along.</DIV>

List complete specs of 1.8a chip.....all codes on the white label of the box including packing date....

List complete ram specs....

Jump straight to 133fsb (if newer pack date then may 2002)....leave ram ratio to 1:1 and timings to most conservative...high cas number and such...we want to isolate cpu to find its limit and not add into the equation potential ram limitations....

Test it with prime95 for 1 hour and if it passes jump to 135 then 140, 145,150 and so on....Make sure you lock the agp/pci bus to 33/66....

If it fails prime or does not load into windows at 1.5v then bump of vcore in .025v increments....

First you need to figure out actual vcore at idle and do not trust just what it says it is set to in the bios....Important cause we want to try to keep this thing under 1.7v for safety purposes (1.7v is IMO the safe line)

The whole time we do this testing at each speed we want to watch temps at load as well as voltage rails (+12v,+5v and vcore....)

Ok, here's the specs on my CPU box:

Prod. Code: BX80532PC1800DSL63X
MM #: 842169
FPO/BATCH #: 7226A548
VERSION #: A78297-004
PACK DATE: 9/13/2002
Made in Philipines.

I have a 512 MB stick of Crucial RAM. Here are it's specs: DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 7.5ns ? 2.5V ? 64Meg x 64

Ok, now what? I'm sort of a newbie, so you might have to explain some it to me more than most. What is Prime95? Program I need to download? Thanks for all your help.

1.8 @ 2.4 is a little less than a walk in the park for that cpu.. you get the right stepping and 3ghz shouldn't be too hard to get.
