Been gradually pushing the clocks on my 8800gt. So far edged up to 655/915 but haven't done anything with shader clock.
Temps fine at 64C highest peak reached after hours of gaming.
But it often will freeze machine up at the point after boot up when it sets the clocks automatiically (using VDO utility that came with card). Occasionally will happen when I set clock manually after boot up, but usually not.
So it seems to be the act of changing clock speeds that causes the crash, not the speeds themselves. Not least because it did it once when switching back to stock speed.
Is this normal, does it happen with rivatuner or is it just this utility, and should I be worried about it?
Also - how significant is the shader clock, and is it likely to be as overclockable as the core?
Thanks.
