Overclocking 400 AMD

What is the Max temp/ good temp for the k6-2 AMD 400 to be running at? Iv'e overclocked @427 but the temp jumped from 35 to 48.

did you increase voltage? Voltage increases temp more than frequency does. 48 isn't too bad, but I'd still think that you'd want to put more cooling on if possible.

what settings?

I just built a new system, and decided to give the old 400 an OC at the same time.
I tried 110 fsb, and I think 2.6 v(does that sound right?what's the core voltage?)
I had immediate crashes in Windows boot.

Safe voltage increase is in the +0.2v/+0.3v range. 2.4v AHX core can run with 2.7v without problem. Overclocking a K6-2 is easier than o/c the K6-III so you should hit 450 / 500 without problem (with proper cooling).

Cooling is very important. If you are using stock cooling, you can't overclock well as you have to increase voltage (produces more heat). You should at last remove the thermal pad and use thermal paste.
Before trying o/c with FSB, try to change clock multiplier. If stable, try to get the same clock speed with FSB increase (gives better performance with K6-2 line).

I just bumped My jumpers up 5x 1oofsb and it runs at about 49 degrees.
With a stock fan... prob should get a better fan.Any suggestions?
