Hi guys

Earlier i used to read forum topics and used to get solutions to most of my questions
you all are so dedicated here each topic gets so much of response i have joined this
excellent forum because i too wanted to be a part of it.

I really respect you all a lot for the time and efforts you all put in helping others

This is my first post here and i am planning to buy this system
please let me know if its ok

- AMD Athlon 64 3500+ S939 Winchester
- ASUS A8N Sli Delux
- Transcend DDR400 2x512MB
- XFX GeForce 6600GT
or
Gainward PowerPack! Ultra 1960 PCX XP 128MB

- Antec SLK3700B Cabinet
- Antec Smart Power 450W PSU

I wanted to overclock this system on Stock Cooling will i be able to
reach

HTT Speed - 267
HTT Multiplier - 10 or 9.5
HTT Multiplier - 4

267x10 = 2670
267x9.5 = 2536.5

DDR Divider - 333 or 5:6
As Transcend DDR Rams have reached max 223 MHz as one of my friend said
so it 267x[5/6] = 222.5

Will i be able to reach this high.

I am not able to get my hands on DFI Lan Party as its not available here in India & MSI is available but hard to find.

We dont have OCZ rams in our country also so i have to get Transcend only.

Edited Later:- i have dropped the idea of Winchester 3500+ instead now i am waiting for
the Reviews of latest Venice , SanDeigo , Toledo Cores and will decide from them a
processor with a multiplier of 11

if you are only going to use a x10 multiplier i would get a 3200, also, the new cores, venice, are scheduled to ship in a couple of weeks, you might want to wait for that, as rumor has it that they will be better overclockers.

Can you tell me a bit more about the venice core is it based on 90nm too.
and will it be cheaper than winchesters.

What is the advantage of venice core over winchester.

i dont want a detailed explanation just a few lines or some links where its explained in detail.

Thanks

90nm: yes
cheaper: no
advantage: sse3, new memory controller which should run 4 sticks at 1T command rate, suspected to be hell of an overclocker ;)

Regarding what you may reach with your cpu and ram it all depends on the luck of the draw...but the components are decent so you got a good chance :)

Edit: oh, welcome and thanks for the flowers for our forum...

Well thanks for pointing me to venice core i always felt amd had lacked the SSE3 instructions which
according to me will help in encoding videos.

And "new memory controller which should run 4 sticks at 1T command rate, suspected to be hell of an overclocker" are you sure on this Doctorweir well this is also a big welcome from amd

In all the venice core packs a big punch and the biggest is overclocking to high levels at low voltage .

So i am thinking of a 3500+ Venice core any idea when will it be released by AMD and how much
can i overclock with my above config.

There is a reason i am going for the 3500+ instead of 3200+
The reason is my ram , other wise i will seriously have to reduce the multiplier to ddr266
i dont want to do that i want to reduce it to ddr333 only.
So it wud be running at 223 mhz.

Allowing me to overclock the CPU to more high.
i can get 267x10.5,267x10,267x9.5 easily with Venice core i hope so.

What is the exact difference between A8N Sli Delux & Premium
only that the SLi mode can be enabled and disabled through windows.

And Regarding showering flowers on this Forum you guys are simply awesome is all i can say.

I'm trying to decide between the Venice 3200+ which should be out in the next week or two and the San Diego 3500+ which should show up by the end of the month. AMD is starting to drive me crazy with all these wonderful options, too many too fast, must resist.

Within 1-2 weeks
Venice cores 3000+,3200+,3500+,3800+, 90nm SSE3 better mem controller great overclockers?

End of April Early May
San Diego cores 3500+,3700+,4000+,4200+,FX57, 90nm SSE3, better controller, best strained silicon, 1mb L2 cache, best overclockers yet?

By mid summer
Toledo cores ????, dual core multi tasking, video encoding monsters?

And all of them will work on my 939 board
Somebody please take my CC away for my own safety!!!!!!!!

AMD you are completely driving me crazy

I didnt knew about SanDeigo Core but knew about Toledo.

Amoung Venice / SanDeigo / Toledo i am now confused and gone completely mad.

I better let all the 3 be released i will wait and then go for the best core 3500+.

Thanks for updating me on the new cores.

Which value ram will allow me overclocking above 223 Mhz on my above mentioned config.

We have following rams in our country
Transcend , Hynix , Corsair , Kingston , Kingmax[bit rare] , Zion

Which are better ram chips for overclocking for eg. Hynix D43 , Samsung TCCD etc. [i dont know much about it]

Where can i find a chart which let me know which ram uses which chips

TCCD, BH-5 and VX are the current favorites for OCing RAMs.
Corsair should offer some TCCD based RAM. I dont know which of their RAM does, besides the PC4400.
