So I'm trying to overclock this thing but I have no experience on the a64 platform. I really don't know what the hyper transport is and I don't even see a setting for memory dividers in the core cell menu.

I have pc2700 ram right now as I am waiting for my 3200 to get here on Thursday. However, I figured I could just mess around with memory dividers to be able to get a general idea of how far I could push my cpu.

When I looked online to try and get some explanation for how the new system works I ran into a bunch of people talking about it but already assuming that the reader knows the basics... Can someone please explain this to me?

What does the Max Memclock setting under the DRAM Config menu do? PC2700 runs at 166MHz, so keep it close to that. Hypertransport is the pipeline the CPU uses to communicate with the rest of the system (APG bus, PCI bus, USB, etc.) The system speed is determined by taking the product of the HT frequency and the CPU multiplier. The memory ratios are displayed as 1:1, 5:4 or percentages like 100%, 80%. The memory speed is found by applying the memory ratio to the HT frequency. 200MHz divided by 5 multiplied by 4 or 200 * 80 / 100. Hope this helps. Peace.
