Overclocked P4 @ 1.648 Volts - Is this SAFE???

About three weeks ago I seriously considered going back to AMD (2500 Mobile BARTON, ABIT NFS) and OC the hell out of it, but reading in many forums virtually nobody was able to push it beyond 2.6 GHz, I reconsidered. The reason I didn't go the AMD path? I had to buy a "new" board with a dying socket and chipset, which will be obsolete soon.

Anyway, I opted to drop a new P4 3.06GHz into my existing ABIT IT7MAX2 und clock it to 3.73GHz. So far, so good.

Now my concern: The voltage in CPU-Z varies between 1.632 and 1.648 Volts. I know the "official" intel rating for this processor is 1.55V max.

Am I safe? Thanks for your responses...

let me ask you.....

is it worth the extra few mhz?
is it worth the extra heat?
does it effect your vid card OC?

1.65v is what some of us concider the max allowable.
1.6v is prolly safer in the long term.
then again ~ is it really worth it to you to go past default voltage for an extra 150mhz?

BTW: adding voltage actually makes the system slightly slower then if it was able to run on default.

I know, they will barely be noticeable in everyday usage, but I'm a "stats - nut"...

Do you mean I could run default volts at 3.55GHz? ( I haven't even tried that...)

Heat is not a major issue with watercooling.

No, I do not have my video card overclocked. (Not yet... ;) )

Does anyone here have long-term experience with this voltage?
