Overclocked my Tbird 100 to 1200 but problems...

When I play counterstrike I get a solid 99-100 frames a sec for hours on hours but when i run 3dmark after the helicopter and adventure benchmarks it closes and says some random file is corrupted...but all my games run 100% stable... my stats are as follow. Will reinstalling 3dmark help?

Asus A7V133
3d prophet 2 64mb PRO
256 PC133 RAM
Sound Blaster Live (PCI Slot 3)

Without knowing exactly what the error is your getting there is no way in hell anyone here can tell you 100% that reinstalling 3dmark will help.

Good God its a downloaded program. The time it took you to come to here and ask you could have had it uninstalled and then reinstalled. Just try it and see.

Or you could wait for a MCSE to answer your Q... 😉

An MCSE answer: Overclocking means your computer does not work.

I don't have/want an MCSE, but I bet thats how 99.9% of those people think.

My answer: When I had my P3 650 overclocked to 1008 on a Soyo 6BA +100 board, I got that same error. Clocking it down to 910MHz cured the problem. I bet you thats the case for you too. It's an overclocking symptom. Have you tried out Prime95? I bet you 10 bucks Prime95 will fail on ya. Of all the overclocking tools I've tried, Prime95 has been an excellent tool for me to find the slightest form of instability of a system.

i agree that Prime95 is a great tool for testing system stability... run the torture test for hours, and it'll halt if it detects any system instability...

Anyway, seems like your OC is just not stable. If reinstalling 3dMark doesn't cure it, try bringing it a notch down?
