It's an old 22" 1680x1050 @ 60htz LCD screen but it still has excellent IQ. I overclocked it to 65htz. Will this make a difference in gaming at all?

Thank you.

There's a big thread that's tacked on on this section.

From the bit i have read, no wont do anything. Doubt you can see a difference.

From what i have read, going from 60hz to 120hz you are pretty much cutting the response time in half, or something to that effect. Im sure someone else can explain it better. So like i said 5hz wont make a difference.

you will basically see an extra 5 frames if your GPU can push the game to 65+ FPS. I really doubt you will notice an 8% increase. IMO not worth the effort or wear and tear

65hz means that the monitor can look for up to 65fps from the gpu. If the gpu is outputting 60fps, then a 60hz monitor is going to in theory show 100% of the frames. For gaming, this means that you get to see every frame. If your monitor is at 65hz and your gpu is out putting 60fps, then you will just duplicate or screen tear images. If your gpu is outputting 65fps and your monitor is at 65hz, then you are getting an extra 5fps, and should have a 7.7% higher maximum reaction time, because you should in theory get the next fram 7.7% sooner than 60fps.

You will notice that I said in theory, because in the real world, you may not even get 7.7% because fps is an avg. if the first second you get 1 frame, and the 2nd second you get 119 frames, then the avg is 60fps, but the 65hz monitor showed all the frames in the 1st second, but dropped 54 frames the 2nd second, so in reality, the monitor had an avg of 33fps.
