Overclocked Load Temps Hurt CPU Long Run?

Hi, my computer is currently running stable at 2400mhz and it is the 3800 x2. Temps are 35/54 C. I ran Prime and it is stable for 12 hours although it constantly danced around 54-52. The idle doesn't seem low. It runs fine, I just worry that it will just burn out when encoding a bunch of dvds one after the other and then playing games. I am currently also using the stock aluminum HSF with AS5. I bought the AMD HSF with 4 heatpipes last week but it still hasn't come in yet. Just wondering what are some good load temps for the 3800 x2. Also, post some of your setups so I can get some ideas on how to lower my temps further without having a HSF that looks like one of the twin towers.

Ouch, your temps are a bit high. My Opteron 144 Overclocked at 2808MHz has about the same idle temp as yours, but loads at around 45C. I'm using the Zalman CNPS9500 cooler. Did you completely clean off the old thermal stuff that was on the bottom of the stock HSF before you applied a THIN (about the thickness of a sheet of paper) layer of AS5?

Yeah, I cleaned it all off and applied AS5 with a credit card. Your low temps could be explained by the fact that you are using an aftermarket HSF.

I currently have it at 1.4V right now. Maybe I should lower it back to stock specs, whcih is 1.375?

rig in sig- x2 , 2700 @ 1.44v load 43c with xp90
sons x2 3800 @ stock, 1.35v load 41c with 7000cu.

neither idle. i'd think the new hsf will help you out some. those temps are a bit high.
