Overclocked BFG 6800 GT -> Lower score?

Hi,
Before overclocking my BFG 6800GT card, my 3Dmark05 is 4980. After I changed the core clock of the video card from 370 (default) to 400, the score drops to 2960. How come?

Check the temps... could it be throttling due to high temps? Did you change anything else? Have AA or AF on or something?

The idle temp of the video card is about 60 degree C. The AA and AF is left at default. So you think it is because of the temperature being too high?

Could be a lot of reasons, but that seems to be a pretty drasticly lower score. How many times have you gotten that score while overclocked? Also did you notice any artifacts during the 3dmark run while it was overclocked? Try to run 3dmark with as little else running as possible, to reduce the chance of somthing stealing power.

I adjusted the setting for both 3D and 2D. I only run the 3DMark05 once and I didn't look at the artifacts during the benchmark test. What's the safe max temp of the video card? any other ideas?

For stock cooling above 80 is bad... 70's are ok in my experience.

That is quite a drop in score. Try smaller increment increases and check the results. Take to 380 and test, then 390. It might not want to go up to 400.
