hey guys, current setup is barton3000 (400fsb) on an nf7 w/ 512ddr pc2700 (yea need to get some 3200) and a ti4600 ( ) anyways... i originally intended to wait for the 6800NU (since my budget is limited) but dunno if im going to do that anymore. for the same price of a 6800NU or the x800pro(slightly more), i could get myself a 9800pro(and oc it if its called for) for around 180, and some faster memory. question is: will my system be prepared for coming games such as doom3 /hl2?

It should perform really well in HL2 if the preliminary benchmarks say anything. Forget about using AA/AF with either of these games though.

DoomIII will also run nicely, but not as well IMO. It will run best on nVidia hardware.

If you must run these games in all their glory, you will be forced to buy an X800 or 6800 graphics card.

at least for HL2, i REALLY doubt you would need anything more than a r9800 to run it at full.

Considering the screenshots and videos of HL2 and the performance in say FarCry, I think it will really really stress a 9800p. I think for all the HL2 glory you will need a X800/X800XT/6800. We will just see though.

Farcy stresses my 9800p @1280x1024x32 with Everything HIGH (not Very High) and AS/AA at low or 1. Avg (30fps).
