I'm in the process of putting together a new rig and can't decide on the card. I've been an nVidia fan for many years but am open to change. I'd like the best performance I can get without having to wait much longer. I'm also a beginner at OC'ing so the easier the better.

The rest of the system as follows:
Q6600 G0
Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6 Mobo
4GB DDR2-800
Dual Monitors (22" Wide and 19")

Any thoughts?

best performance is 8800 gts. but you will pay like 100 dollars more than the 3870.

Not necessarily. I've seen the GTS cards down to about $230.

If you can spend over $200, get the GTS. If your budget is more limited, get an overclocked 9600GT or 3870.

An 8800GTS (G92) will more than likely overclock like a monster. Mine was stable @ 800MHz (gpu) on the stock cooler. That was with the fan @ 75% though.
