Overclockability of Single sticks of RAM vs the sticks from DC kits.

Hi,

AFAIK, the ram modules in DC kits are hand picked and stress-tested. Often, when a pair fails, they are sold as single sticks. Is this true for the OCZ 3200EL Platinum Rev2? And if so, does that mean that the single sticks are possibly less overclockable?

Thx

I think a DC kit and two single sticks of RAM are the same exact thing. I don't even think they are matched pairs in the DC kit, or stress tested...unless someone has evidence otherwise. From what I knew, I thought it was just marketing bait to pay an extra $10.

Im pretty sure that OCZ stress test their DC kits; and about the "Extra 10 bucks" arent DC kits usually cheaper??? lol Or maybe thats just the way it is here in Canada.....man its screwed up here. Reason why im asking this is because i want to get a 1gb DC kit, but I found this store that sells single sticks of 512mb OCZ 3200EL Platinum Rev 2 for 140 CDN!!!! Ram is usually like 50% more expensive here :S Anyways, the DC kit retails for around 440 Cdn..........so 2 X single 512mb sticks would probably save me ALOT of money. Im still waiting for the price quote from that particular store for the 1GB DC kit. I plan to oc the hell outta the ram, so if the single 512mb sticks oc just as well, then im definetly going for that instead.

Don't know about the stress testing, but DC kits are just 2 of the same stock and are typically either the same price as two seperate ones or a few bucks cheaper. For instance on NE there's a stick of OCZ for $120 512mb and the dual channel kit is 220 for 2x512mb, so it's actually cheaper (at least in some cases).
