Hi I am new to this forum and wanted to get some info. I have scoured google and read conflicting reports about overclocking laptops. I have a Hp-dv5 wit a Turion-2 p520. I havnt really been able to find much info on it but was looking to overclock it but want sure if even attempting to try was even worth it if I wouldnt get any major increase w/o instability or permanent damage. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Not worth it. Either upgrade other things like RAM or hard drive/SSD or get a new laptop.

as opposed to overclocking i would buy a n620, its 2.8ghz, and your model also comes with it as an option, so it should be an easy drop in swap. i have seem them as low as $60
