Overclock then dead

overclocking using oc software from mb man. took it to 2.7 and selected increase voltage.
went to test new settings and now pc will not turn on. i was running the 400w ps from case man.
is ps blown?
is my system fine?

ordered a new ps thermalake the 40$ one...

you mean when you hit the power button nothing turns on or you hit power, computer powers up but no signal?

What he was asking is whether or not the fans and drives power up, or not. If not, it's either your motherboard or psu. If the fans do spin up, try resetting the BIOS.

if there are no fans or anything it has to be PSU or mobo, but more likely PSU.

If the fans and everything power up, you need to unplug the computer and then plug it back in.

If nothing starts up, then you've probably killed something.

This happen to me before. I just turned off the computer from the back and unplugged it. Make sure the light goes off on the Mobo. Then try turning it back on.

Also try removing whatever you can and re-inserting. Starting with the RAM.

You should also check for burnt transistors or blown capacitors on your mobo.

If all fails, 8 out of 10 it's usually the motherboard that took the hit. Espcially if the thing won't even post.

The CMOS could of been currupted and that could lead to many other things. Like over voltage.

If you are using a cheap generic PSU with this system, I'd say that you should get somthing better regardless of wether it was the component which failed... even if it still works & it was the motherboard which fried, the PSU could be to blame.

My computer also refused to turn on recently - it turns out the PSU went bad. Replaced the PSU and everything works fine now.

There are many ways, but using a bad psu is the most common. Bad voltage, especially if it's too high, kills electronics.

Recently switched a buddies comp over from amd 2500./Giga to a 754 DFI and 3 seconds after it booted, nothing. Ended up putting a new psu in after a lot of testing and switching. Raidmax psu's aren't very good anyway and I told him that when he bought the case. Went with a ModStream 600 and all good now including enough for future upgrades.
