Overclock that 9700!

If you are one of the lucky ones to have the heatsink of your
9700 actually touching the GPU then good for you. :)
If you are not afraid of voiding the warranty on your $350
card then read here. Removing the "shim" from around the GPU
allows you to make contact with the chip to help cool it.
I was practically unable to overclock until I did this.

but i think i'll wait for DOOM3.. and then i may o/c my 9700 Pro

So far, I've been able oc my Sapphire 9700 Pro, built by ATi w/stock HS, to 375/730 :Q

I remember those days of Doom when you couldn't overclock anything.
You just enjoyed the game until 6 in the morning and had to go to work
after 2 hours of sleep.. Oh boy.. Was I young or what... :( :( :( :)

well i am FINALLY getting my radeon next week :) (long story)


i probably am not overclocking anything with my pc until the games start requiring it....right now my pc and the soon to be radeon will kick anythings ass thats on the market now
