Overclock SS51G

I've got an SS51G with a P4 533fsb 2.4ghz and 512mb pc2100 from Crucial. Right now the machine is running at 2.62ghz and the mem is at 290 (if I misquote something, please don't kill me, I don't know as much as some people). The only thing I have done to this cooling wise is I installed round cables to replace the IDE cables and I replaced the stock fan for a blue lit (and much quieter) fan. I also put a heat sink on my RAM, as I didn't want to take any chances. Sandra '03 says the P4 runs between 42 and 45C. Do I only need to watch the temp on this or can other things cause problems for me? Also, Does anybody else have an SS51G overclocked so I have something to compare to? Has anybody figured out how to mod this thing for better cooling?😕

I have a SS51G with a P4 1.8a C1 and it's running fine @ 2.53ghz or 141FSB stable. I got to 145FSB and boot fine, but couldn't get it to prime95 stable. I have DDR333 ram, so I don't think it's my ram. Since the Mobo has no voltage adjustment, and it actually undervolts a little, I think that's probably why and 2.53ghz is as high as I can get. Maybe I should volt mod the P4 cpu to get more out of it, but 2.53 is plenty fast for me, so I will hold off on that.

For cooling, in addition the heatpipe, I used the fan+clip from an Arkua 8568 HSF, instead of using the P4 bracket clip that came with the box, to add active cooling right on top of the CPU. The fan+clip from the arkua low profile HSF fits perfectly and added an additional cooling source for the heatpipe. It also helps me cool the HD a little since the HDD is right above the CPU.

However, temp still does get to the high 40s though, but, I think it's not too bad.

Cool. I just put a standard 80mm (glows blue!😀) fan right on the heat sink after i removed that clip thing that holds the heat sink down. After rearranging some cables, it fits great and doesn't make too much noise. It seems to be running about 3 degrees cooler than before, but I may have put the fan in backwards. I'll check that and get back.

Just thought of something. Since I removed the clip which holds the heat sink tightly against the processor, will that cause problems with heat? Will it cause a loss of physical contact to transfer the heat? And is heat the only thing I need to watch?

I am running an SS51g with a 2.53@2755.

I used to run a 2.66@2900 no problem.

Anything more than 145FSB and it gets a little flaky though.
