Overclock settings will not hold

Hey guys!

I'm setting up a new computer for my friend. It's a gigabyte P45-UD3R with a E7400. Everytime I go to over clock it (change settings in bios and save) it reboots with the new over clock (as seen in bios boot), boots into windows xp fine but without my overclock. I then go back to the BIOS and the settings have change back to default.

I don't think it's a bad overclock because it states my overclock settings in the bios startup screen at bootup. Plus it doesn't do the double boot from bad overclock thing.

I know I have seen a post or two on this subject but I can't seem to find it.

What am I doing wrong?

thanks

I have still be playing around with this and have a little bit more info.

It seems the no matter what I set the cpu multiplier to (7,8,9,10) it always reverts back to 6X after I have save the bios to cmos and reboot. Everything else in the BIOS that I changed stays where I set it.

When I run Prime95, the multiplier does NOT change. I'm using Coretemp 0.99.4, Realtemp 3.00, and cpuz 1.51 and they all say the same thing.

Are the programs not reporting the multiplier correctly? If that is correct, why would the bios keep going back to a 6x multiplier?
