Overclock resets itself upon reboot, no matter if I DON'T check "Use these settings only until I restart my computer"

I've got an EVGA 7900GTO, stock speeds 650/1320. I am running the 93.71 drivers and Coolbits 2.0 reg entry to get the overclocking options in the NVidia control panel.

I can change my Core/Mem speeds just fine. I DO NOT CHECK the "Use these settings only until I restart my computer" box. When I restart, the card reverts to stock speeds. 😕

I have not wildly OC'd the card; I got no artifacts/tearing/freezes/etc. In fact, the card ran 3DM06 and Oblivion at 7900GTX speeds GREAT. But when I reboot I lose my OC.

What's going on here?

your problem is right here, are you sure you aren't misreading it...I haven't seen that setting on the overclocking tool for Nvidia drivers.

the box should read "Apply these settings at start up"
😕

Hey Stumps.🙂

Well...I don't think I'm misreading it...if I were to check the "Use these settings only until I restart" that would mean "Use these overclocked settings now, but reset to stock when I restart." Right? 😕

I haven't tried it with CHECKING the box. I'll have to post a screen shot later when I get home so you can see what I'm talking about.

I like the overclocked performance, but not to the point where I'd manually OC it every time I start a game.

Have you tried any other utilities like RivaTuner, etc. to do your OC? I find these more handy as you can define an OC profile and instruct it to run only when you're gaming. The rest of the time you can run an "idle" profile to cut power consumption and heat.

Ive never seen this setting any NV clock panel and I have 3 comps now.

What you're doing wrong is you need to switch the the nvida classic control panel to get the option we all know and love "apply these settings on start up"

same. I have 3 running GF cards and have never seen that setting...are you using reference drivers or EVGA's drivers?

Edit: after screwing with it and rebooting I get the same problem, again he needs to switch to the nvidia classic control panel to get the option "apply these settings on startup" for it to apply each time.

Uh...I use the new control panel. 😱

Zebo: You hit it on the head; that's the exact screen I see. I will switch back to the old control panel and hopefully get the "apply settings at startup" box. 🙂 I have no idea why it doesn't work correctly on the new CP. Oh, I'm using the reference 93.71 drivers straight from NVidia's site. I never use partner (EVGA/XFX/etc) drivers for videocards.

Thanks much.

ps
What card are you running that you've got a memory speed of 2052MHz? :Q
