Overclock Q6600 on a budget?

Sorry in advance if this has already been answered elsewhere. I'm looking to put together a video editing machine (using Vegas Pro 8) based on the Q6600 since Vegas can use all 4 cores. I do not play games and Vegas does all it's processing on the CPU not the GPU so I will probably get a video card for around $100. All I want to do is to be about to overclock the CPU to about 3.00 Ghz. With that being said, after a lot of research, I'm still not sure where I need to spend money and where I can get away with less. For example, Newegg often has Corsair XMS 2GB DDR2 800 on special for around $34 after rebate. Is that good enough or do I need to spend more (do I need DDR2 1066 for proper memory overhead or is that just wasting money based on a modest overclock?) . Power supplies are another question. I know you don't want to skimp too much ... but do I really need to spend over $100? How about motherboards? I've read a lot of good things about the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L at $89. I'd love to hear any recommendations you may have on motherboards, memory, and/or power supplies that are priced right that but will also allow me to hit 3 Ghz. I'll spend money where I need to ... I just don't want to dump more going overkill for my needs. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums !

As to your memory question, I think that memory is fine for 3 ghz. DS3L or DS3R gigabyte are great. Yes, Make sure you get a GOOD PSU (Seasonic or fortron are my favorites) 500-600 watt. And I would get an Thermalright Ultra 120 CPU cooler.

Ooo get a body kit from Veilside for that RX-7, those look awesome :D As for the items, what mark suggested is completely fine. Don't video editors use a lot of ram? Might want to get more ram, since 3ghz isn't too hard an overclock for the q6600 you could probably stick in 4 1gb sticks.
