should i post the cpu id? is it highly likely that overclocking will ruin my comp?
If you have a good cooler, it shouldn't ruin anything.
Few issues....
- Seems that the chipset drivers are missing (from the CPUZ blank information)
- The cooler shown is LGA775 type while the ASUS P4P800 board is S478 type. Nowadays hard to find new and better 3rd party S478 coolers.
As for stability problems......
- Could be a dying or unstable PSU problem, check with a multimeter directly (if you have one)
- Test for bad RAM (use Memtest86+)
- Check for signs of leaking or bloated capacitors ("badcaps") on the motherboard
- Scan for "slow" or bad sectors on the hard drive (ie. "slow" sectors usually are hard to detect)
i hope you guys can read this ,

i put 3 gb ram ( 2x 1GB + 2x 512mb )

Try here >> Intel® 865 Chipset Family - Chipset information and downloads (choose the "Intel® 865PE Chipset").1. where do you get the info about the chipset?
where can i dl and install one?
That's a LGA775 heatsink, does not fit on a S478 socket.2. i have a hyper tx 2 could i use that?
Seems your board has voltage monitoring....3. where do you get that info. ?? I dont have a multimeter
Those readings look fine though.3.3v voltage 3.376v
5v voltage 5.08v
12v voltage 11.916v
After you install the chipset software, then it should show up. For Memtest86, download the ISO image and burn into a (bootable) CDR. Boot from that CDR to start the memory test (run it at least 5 loops, takes a long time but can abort if memory errors show up).4. when i go into Bios the full 3 GB RAm show, it only doesnt show on cpuz.
i dont know how to use memtest86
Usually hard to tell at times. Can you tell us the brand of those capacitors?5. caps look okay to me.
Your CPU temperature is tad too high for a 2.4GHz Northwood CPU (usually should be around 25C to 32C on idle, cause I used to own one myself). This could be one reason for the instability issue (besides a possible dying PSU). :hmm:some more info form HARDWARE MONITOR
cpu temp 41.5C/108.5F
how can i save the PSU? anyway i can lower cpu temp?
how long has it been since you've cleaned the dust out of your heatsink and fans?
