Overclock not showing in Windows

Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
A8N5X (1002 BIOS)
1gb (2x512) Crucial XMS PC3200
Sapphire X1900GT


When I go into BIOS, and set AI over-clock to any setting, exit and reboot. BIOS shows the changes, but when I boot into windows, and look at Computer Properties, CPU-Z, etc. it doesn't show any change. I've been messing around with settings all day, and they show up just fine when I boot, but then when I get into windows, nothing shows changed. I'm completely stumped, and any help would be appreciated.

IIRC Asus AI overclock only actually overclocks the processor when it is placed under a load, so at Idle the system isn't really overclock, and thus won't show up as an overclocked system.

ah, but when I manually change clock settings, it will show up in BIOS, but not when I boot into windows.

have you tried disabling Asus AI and then manually entering the overclocked settings?

Yes. All the settings are changed when I go back into BIOS, and during post. Then when I boot into windows, and check, nothing is changed.

what setting are you try to overclock your CPU to?

Any. That's the thing. Even if I change it 5mhz, it shows up in BIOS as changed, but no change in windows.

is your bios set to write protect?

are the setting actually saving in the Bios and appearing next time you restart your computer?

Is Asus CPR disabled? It might be malfunctioning and resetting the cpu setting after a reboot.

There is no option for Asus C.P.R. and its not write protected. Yes the change stay even after a reboot. So say, I change the cpu Frequency to 210mhz so that would be 2100mhz. I reboot and BIOS stays the same, then I get into windows and check cpu-z and it says cpu Frequency 200 and clock speed 2000mhz, as if I never changed anything. So I reboot again and check BIOS, and it still still shows the changes.

try running a few benchmarks and see if the results change, have you disabled cool N quiet...it can cause hassles with overclocking at times.
