I have a fairly stable overclock on my EP45-DS3 board, E8500 chip and GSkill 2x2G 1066 PI Ram, at both 3.6Ghz (379 x 9.5) and 4.0Ghz (422 x 9.5).
The problem I've having, and would like advice on, is when I run the ram using XMP settings, and pick a multi that takes it to 1066 or the next closest,
I fail Orthos when I test for CPU and Ram load. If I back off the Ram multis so that it's running at around 980, I can get it stable.
The Ram is rated at 1066 at 2.1v.
My bios settings for volts are all Auto except for Vcore, Mch, and FSB. I've set both Mch and FSB 2 steps higher than stock. I think Vcore is 1.36v at 4.0Ghz using CpuZ.
Will double check when I get home from work.
Should I give more volts to the Mch, and what is the max I give it?
Also how far can I push the volts for the FSB?
I was also thinking if I lower the CPU multi to 9 and increase FSB to 445 (4.0Ghz), will I need more volts to the FSB, and less volts to the Vcore, or does it not work that way?
For the 3.6Ghz overclock, I've tried 400 x 9, that way I can get the ram to a neat 1066, but neither ram or cpu is stable, so I'm sticking to 9.5 multi.
