Overclock. Is this about as good as I can hope for?

Thats probably close too the limit on stock vcore. My E6400 does about the same on stock, I run it 24/7 at 3050 with a slight vcore bump. My highest prime stable is 3.3ghz but it takes too much vcore for my taste.

I don't see a reason not to try for higher.

Vcore isn't too high, neither are temps.

I'd try for higher.

I think you can reach 400 FSB with 1.4v.

Overclock your GPU too. Give a try on 600/900 MHz. If stable, go into 640/1000.
You would get at least 11000 on 3DMark.

That's almost exactly the same total score I'm getting... And yeah, you should be able to push it a bit further, your vcore can go a little higher without any trouble.

BTW, my system is an X2 4200+ 2.2ghz running at 2.8ghz, with an EVGA 8800GTX at stock speed, and 4gb of corsair xms2 6400 5-5-5-12

I need a better CPU, because I unlike you cannot push my CPU much further without crashes. :p

Thanks, I will try the CPU at 400/1.4. GPU is currently at 664/950 That's as high as I could get it and remain stable.

You need to drop your RAM's speed back down to 1:1. That's likely what's hampering your overclock, unless your RAM has Micron D9 IC's.

edit: The only G.Skill PC6400 with D9 IC's are the HZ series.
