Hey guys, i could really use some help here on a step-by-step process for overclocking this comp. I'm used to the simple days of the barton, so im not too familiar with memory timings and really the tricky stuff to clock this baby. I have a great setup, so it shouldn't be too bad, and a reasonable goal with great hardware. If you guys could give me a good step by step setup of what to change and when, i would greatly appreciate it.

The parts:

Athlon 64 Venice 3200+
DFI LanParty nF4 Ultra-D
OCZ EL PC4000 VX Gold (2-2-2-8??)
OCZ Powerstream 520w PSU
XP-120 Heatsink
Panaflo 120mm ULTRA-SPEED CPU fan (120 CFM!)

Idle temps: 29/30c
Load temps: 34-36c
^^^ stock.

Ram is in Dimm 2 and 4, SATA HDD is in slot 3.
Everything in the bios is set to auto, and im not sure what to change at this current point in retrospect to the clocking the FSB process.

GOAL!

2.7Ghz. Up from 2.0Ghz stock. 700 Mhz.

LIMITATIONS!

The vcore must NOT go above 1.55v. I can't afford to replace this baby anytime soon, so i need to make sure it'll last at least 3 years. Other than that, the load temp must NOT go over 54c. I think that's pretty reasonable considering I have nearly the best air cooling you can buy.

Okay! Onward. Can you guys start me off here? I have prime95 to test, but if anyone has some free time and wants to type up a step-by-step guide with time and steps, i'd really appreciate it. I'm thinking 10x270 will be the best HTT?

Anywho, much appreciated. I have something special for the person who helps out too, I realize this will take a long time and im not in a hurry, so if you think each step should take some time, please suggest that. I just need a really good opinion and a step-by-step process to get my comp stable at 2.7Ghz!

Thanks!

Your trying to make it much harder than it is, 2.7 should be easy IF you got a good chip.

Set default optimal settings
Set vCore =1.55
Set HTT = 270
CPU multi =10
Mem ratio 1:1
DDR volts 3.0
Ram timings 3-3-3-7

It should boot right up, then work on

1. Increasing HTT
2. lowering mem timings (may require more volts)

Using Prime95 or OCCT to test for stability each time you change settings.
For the best recommendation on bios version and ram timings visit DFI street, or extremesystems.org, just be prepared to deal with some "mightier than thou" attitudes. Do alot of reading, then ask specific informed questions.
A post like this would be like throwing a bucket of chum in a shark tank:)
