Has anyone overclocked an HD 7870 Ghz Edition? If so what clock speed and memory clock did you get it to? And how hot were you running? Thanks for the input.

I read that one guy got his to Clock: 1257 and Memory: 1331 But I cant get mine to run stable past Clock 1150 and Memory 1350.

Every card will overclock differently. Here is another thread about overclocking an HD7870: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2307464

I would say 1150MHz core is a very typical core overclock. Your memory overclock is somewhat low, but overall core is more important. Can you explain how you tested the limits of your card? What program did you use, and how did you determine that a higher overclock had failed? Did it crash, cause graphical corruption, start slowing down, or something else?

Also, temperatures with overclocking depend as much on the specific design of the card than the GPU, so we'd need to know that. In general, you should always manually increase fan speeds when overclocking, though.

My His IceQ 7870 was delivered today and installed tonight. I'm still in the early phase of overclocking but so far so good.

After toying around just using CCC to overclock my card I decided to use the His iTurbo app for my card.

The app allows me to manipulate the voltage up to 1340MV's max 🙂

Have fun on your overclocking adventure!

Have a great Gigabyte 7870 OC for sale in the for sale forum. Was used on a third rig and blazing fast. Pretty good Overclocker even though it was OC'd at factory.
