Overclock Guide for i7-3770k w/ ASRock Extreme4

Hi all,

So basically I'm brand new to OC. I know little/nothing at all about how to do it, although after some research I understand the concept of increasing FBS and the multiplier to boost the clock speed. As well as using voltage for stability and keeping an eye on temperature.

The issue is I don't know how to use the ASrock BIOS to overclock anything or where to start. If someone could give me a guide or a bit of education on how to actually overclock using the ASROCK motherboard I'd be extremely grateful.

Additional Info: I'm using a Hyper 612 PWM CPU Cooler and I have 4 additional fans set up in the computer.

Not much to change in the UEFI to overclock your chip. What's your goal?

just picked up mine today. So far I'm blown away. looks like all I need is 1.17v for 4.5ghz. That seems crazy low to me. My 2700k needed 1.28 for the same speed. Is this an effect of 22nm or do I have a Gem of a chip?

My preference is to use Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility. The only things that are really necessary are to change your voltage mode to offset (+.005v) and disable C3/C6/C package states (causes instability for me). It's probably a good idea to pick your LLC (with the latest bios, "3" is the perfect setting for me), and my memory is 1.25v so I changed that.

Everything else can be set from Windows.

Hey Yuriman! I'm using 1.21v on 3770k and extreme4 for 4.5 ghz, what settings and voltages (LLC VTT PLL vcore) should I use for higher frequencies for it to be stable for daily use, or at least to conduct some cinebench and 3dmarks? I'm in dire need of help as I forgot my winter time settings for 4.8 daily..
Using custom watercooling.
