I don't know much about overclocking, but it seems you all do, so maybe you could help me out. I have a compaq presario 6000. 2.53ghz P4, nvidia 4200, 512mb ram, dunno what else i should put. Is it possible to overclock it, and if so how? thanks

no. because compaq doesnt want to deal with people who dont know what they are doing in terms of overclocking and effing up their computers and demanding tech support.

ClockGen, available here, should let you overclock slightly. But, this doesn't work with all sh*tty computers, like yours, nor will you be able to raise the fsb more than about 5-7mhz, because your board doesn't have a pci lock. Hell, you can't even change your vcore, or memory timings, so a few mhz is all you will be able to get, even if it works with your board.:frown:

edit: You should be able to get a roughly 100mhz stable overclock with ClockGen, if it's worth it to you.

you're best bet is to buy a new mobo and use your existing componets to oc.

I definitely agree. An Asus or Abit 865PE-chipset motherboard won't cost you much, and will let you get what you paid for out of that 2.53.
