Hey all-

Can a T-Bird 1.1Ghz with a Blue core be overclocked any? If so, to about what?

I'm gonna put Taisol's largets Socket A cooler on it...

Thanks!

wel with that msi mobo all you can do is up the bus no multiplier o/c for you. you can expect anything from a 101mhz bus to a 110 mhz bus.

Ok, thanks -- if it won't come back when overclocking, which key do I hold down to override overclocking?

And, will the Taisol cooler be good enough to overclock it any? I'm putting theyr best on it..

According to Taisol themselves,
The Cek934092 has a 20 mm bigger sink, is rated for 1.3 Ghz.

There should be a cmos reset humper on the mobo. Heat will not be a problem when you o/c with only the fsb. The clock generator will be the limiting factor.

No key to hold down, eh? On my old Soyo board with a Celery I could just hold down Insert and it would take the OC'ing off.

Hey Rudee, were you able to go anything higher? The max I've got on my 1Ghz is 1150MHz with my PC being stable. I thought I had 1.2GHz running stable since I had RC5 running on it for 3 hours, but when I tried to play Q3, I got artifacts everywhere..

NightHawk,
The motherboard is a KT7 from ABit ( non-RAID)
The HSF is the F0P38, although I was running it with a F0P32-1 as well, I just recently moved up to the current cooler.

Great, thanks! I'll see what I can get mine to using FSB.

Thanks all for the info! I appreciate it!

About FSB overclocking on Athlon boards:
Since the EVA bus ( from cpu to chipset ) is running at 200MHz when you raise the FSB 1 MHz, you also raise the EVA bus by 2.
THe EVA bus normally maxes out at 220MHz ( Not always but this is very good estimate)
This means that you may not be able to go above a increase of 110MHz fsb. ( This raises the EVA bus to 220 ).

at 1.2Ghz it hangs at the Win logo. :( Even with the voltage cranked.

I'm going to re-do the lead pencil on the L1, throw in another Sunon 80mm, and try for 1.2 this weekend.

I'm happy with 1150. It's extremely fast.

**UPDATE**

I removed the lead pencil from the L1 and applied Loctite? defogger conductive paint. I also added an extra Sunon 80mm fan. I used a fresh TIM pad on the TaiSol (glad I purchased extra) and low and behold I hit 1.2GHz without locking up. I played a couple of 3D games and things appeared to be very stable. Tonight I will run some looping demo's and a session of Seti to check for longterm stability.

Thanks for the info on the FSB! So, correct me if I'm wrong, but at 110 FSB, effectively 220, I would have a clock multiplier of 11 (1100Mhz) giving me 1210Mhz?

Thanks!

I thought the artifacts would be from the video card also, but I was only messing with the FSB. I'm only able to do an 11x multiplier and up the FSB by 5 to achieve 1150MHz. Trying 11.5x posts, but won't let me play Q3 while 11x with 110FSB boots, but hangs after 30 minutes of Q3.

H4rm, could you post what settings you used to achieve 1.2GHz?
