overclock 9800 pro to x-level?

What is x-level?

Go to Rage3d and look under downloads. THey have several overclocking programs. But I don't know what x-level is. You sound like you have no business overclocking anything. You'd probably try to RMA it if you broke it.

Yes mine is now above XT levels (415/370) and will go farther. As to how to do it - powerstrip, radclocker, omega drivers. If you do it properly you won't screw it up. The card will tell you when you push it to far (artifacts).

Edit: Nebor is right. Maybe I should not have told you.

lol... just download the omega drivers i believe it has a built in clocking utility. my brother is at 412/365 too. 🙂

Yeah the omega drivers should help

And I hope you do RMA if you break it. I hate ATIs warranty service they are teh suck. I have just experienced trying to get them to fix something and it's a pain. so pooh on ATI's RMA crap.

And I hope he goes to prison for fraud if he does it. And maybe a nice $15,000 fine too.

Yeah, i'm totally sure that is going to happen. I hope you fall down and break all your fingers so you can't type and we don't have to deal with you being a constant jerk, but thats probably about just as unlikely so I won't get my hopes up.

Just because you don't get caught doesn't mean you're not doing something wrong. Refer to the Max Payne threads, in OT and Software forums.

Thanks for the heads up on that. However I never said it was 'right'. I also tend not to simply equate morality with legality, but regardless I'm not saying that it's right, I'm just saying it's not going to happen.

Also your RMA might have been easier if there weren't a bunch of a$$hats sending cards back that they screwed up or there isn't anything wrong with them (people can't figure out what they screwed up OCing and just start RMAing random components).

Yeah, thats probably true, however the thing that annoyed me about the RMA process is that it's difficult and time consuming to actually get into contact with a real person at ATI. I understand that they get a ton of stupid questions that can be answered by auto respones, however the level or crap I have to go through to actually get throught is reatarded.

For Example, I want to actually talk to someone about an RMA that has been in process forever and see what the hold up is. However if I select that my message is about a warranty issue on their e-mail form then I simply get an auto mail telling me to fill out an RMA form (which I have already done, duh) so it's rather circulaer. I had to keep choosing different random subjects from their list until I hit one that didnt just generate a FAQ.

It's really irritating, and I was at least have kidding when I said I hope he RMA'ed his dead card 😛 While I have no desire to be an "asshat" as you put it, I wouldnt mind if ATI suffered a little of the frustration that their stupid RMA process put me through.

edit:

and my RMA had nothing to do with an OC. Its a VIVO product that just died on me the other day out of nowhere.

I was at 425/360 with my 9800 Pro, began to notice small artifacts after extended periods of gaming. Have now backed off to 415/350. Using Cat 3.8 and Rage3d tweak.

Thank you for the morality lesson, internet police man. You're the greatest! 🙂

lol...you gotta love it

I wonder just how much real-estate it would take to actually put some sort of circuitry on the gpu or on the pcb to actually keep a history of the gpu speed. If these companies keep getting v.cards that they suspect are being o.c. and that is the reason for failure, they might just think about doing something like that... or, at least I would: you overclock = no warranty for you! (soup-nazi imitation)
