Is it possible? I have 4.5GB I want to squeeze on a 4.4GB disc. Nero only has options for CDR's. Is there any way to overburn DVD's?

It failed out for me. On Ulead's movie making prog(s), I can burn up to the blue line.

Are you burning data or a movie? If it's a movie you can either get rid of the end credits or use DVDShrink to shrink it a bit.

BTW, 4.37GB is the limit for a DVD.

I thought 4.7GB was the limit, and 9.4 fir a dual layer disc.

4.7GB is the rating of the disk with GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. But as far as your computer is concerned GB = 2^30 = 1,073,741,824 bytes. (4.7 x 10^9)/(2^30) = 4.377GB.

And 9.4GB is the rating for dual SIDED disks, not dual layered. Dual layered are rated at 8.5GB.

I don't copy movies. This is simply for data. The capacity is over 4,400MB. I did the lazy decimal conversion to GB. That's not the issue. I'm looking for a solution to try and get extra data squeezed onto the disc.

4.296875GB according to Windows Calculator :)

That should just fit with no overburn. Couldn't hope for more efficient use of expensive media!

EDIT: Oh, "capacity"
Thought it said "data" (Did it before the edit?)
Bad reply.
Please ignore.

If the data I had fit on the disc I wouldn't be asking about overburning. The over 4400MB I quoted was the disc capacity, not the amount of data I am trying to get on the disc which is larger than that amount. Obviously the capacity of the disc will fit on the disc. Does anyone have a useful answer to the original question on how to overburn a DVD if possible?

bump for answer...

I've googled for the past hour and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I'm using Nero 6, DVD+R and what I want to burn is 30mb over the limit - ARGH!
