Overall Best Netbook to get

Here's some things to look for:

1. Battery life
2. Design (personal choice)
3. Keyboard and trackpad
4. Hard drive (SSD or regular HDD/less space vs more space)

Other than that, most netbooks are very, very similar in power and features. There are a few standout netbooks, such as the MSI Wind U100 or Dell Mini 9, as they are nearly 100% compatible with OS X (great for a Hackintosh).

Otherwise, that should be fine. Just read some reviews online and see if it looks like a good one for you.

This one should be "SSD(higher speed, less space, less power usage) vs HDD(more space, much cheaper)

LOL! The cheapest SSD costs more than most Netbooks. The only reason to buy a netbook is cost saving.

i got one because its easier to take around than the t60...but that was after i got a desktop.

The 1000HE is nice, and its what I would buy if I looking for a netbook right now. However, I've seen it priced lower than that recently.

thanks for the advice guys but the thing is this is the 1000HA not 1000HE I forgot to mention. ASUS labeled it wrong because i looked it up and the HE has a slightly faster processor and has bluetooth and a battery tat is suppose to last 9 hrs. lols I don't think there is tat much of a difference between the two.

Im shopping around for a netbook now too and in my opinion, for netbooks int he $300-$400 range, the Asus 1000HE seems to be at the top. Good battery life, good keyboard, touch pad and buttons are almost like a normal laptop and all the reviews I have read place its performance at or near the top.

I just bought a Lenovo S10 for $298 and it's built like a rock, just like their notebooks.

Upgradable memory and hard drive is a plus. Battery life is a little short, but instead of the 3-cell you can get a 6 or 9 cell.

So, these companies should be updating the line in september or august right? and if so, would those new models be priced around $500 like these were when they came out? I'm debating over whether or not I should wait until then to buy it. Hopefully the next generation offers dual core and decent solid state disks standard.

my guess is just about all of them

Hopefully the next generation offers dual core

if they do you'll probably see worse battery life unless they can make up the savings elsewhere

ssd wont be standard except probably the low end models (like 4gb ssd w/ linux etc)
