... my hands and feet are falling asleep.

Sometime during the day, but its most noticable in the morning when I wake up. 2 days a week or so I wake up with either my left, right, or both arms completely unusable.

Most of the time this is because the arm IS underneath my pillow, but is that always supposed to make it like that? Am I just a bad habit for sleeping with my arms under my pillow?

Does this happen to others?

And no, no diabetes, and I've seen a neuro, so I'm pretty sure this is just somewhat of a phenomenon.

That used to happen to me when I slept on my arm wrong. I would wake up and try to move it and couldn't at all. I'd have to pull it into position with my other arm so it would regain feeling. Try sleeping in different positions where your arm isn't out over your head or wherever is making it fall asleep, should go away.

Could be a circulation issue as others have said. Best to go to a doc to have it checked out.
Also, get your blood sugar tested.

IIRC, appendages falling asleep is caused by a nerve problem, and has nothing to do with blood circulation.

It happens to me all the time, I sleep with an arm under my head. Now, waking up with both arms completely asleep and unusable takes some real talent. I only did it once, don't remember how.

Edit: I'm right and I'm wrong, it's both : Text

Most likely you are putting pressure on a nerve or two and it is causing your body parts to fall asleep. If this is happening while you are awake and moving around, then consult a neurologist, because it could be something more serious. Some people who have been involved in an accident and have some nerve damage can experience peripheral neuropathy, where they feel tingling and numbness in the extremities.

If it is happening while sleeping, it could be because your bed is old or too soft and it is pinching nerves while you sleep.

If it is bothering you or you cannot find a root cause for it, go see a doctor. Don't take the risk of it being something serious.

And BTW, please forgive the buttheads posting above making fun of your genuine concern. :)

I've woken up with an arm asleep before, what really sucks is when it hits something (because you don't have full control over it), you can't feel it getting hurt just then, but you will feel it about 30 seconds later... ouch
