Over the air HDTV Broadcasting

You know how back in the good ol' days when the clarity and "nonfuzziness" of a picture on your TV was dependent partially on how your antenna was set up (We're talking bunny ears here). How does built in HDTV Tuners compensate for this? I mean yeah, it is in high resolution but it's still using an analog signal. (Unless I'm wrong on that point). So could one expect the advertised 720p or 1080i from built in ATSC tuners without the "fuzz" so to speak?

It's not an analog signal, it's digital. It either picks up or it doesn't. There is no fuzz, it looks perfect as long as it picks up.

If you lose the signal or it goes bad the screen just goes blank and displays "No Signal" on mine. I'm sure it's similar with other hdtvs as well. There's no fuzziness or video noise like on analog tvs.

The picture will start to get messed up if your signal tempoararily weakens: video/sound stuttering, blocks popping up (don't know the actual term). We live outside the city, so any time somebody zooms by it creates interference (I'm guessing), and we have that problem.

Mim is right. There is no fuzz or snow, but there most definitely can be blocking and signal dropping in and out.

You don't have to worry about poor quality if you get the signal, but if it is weak or inconsistent, you may see these other problems.

All the above is accurate. To get an idea what you'll need to pick up your favorite stations, check out www.antennaweb.org. They have all the details for you including, stations you should be able to receive, what kind of antenna needed, where to point it, etc... Good source for info.
