can a psu expert confirms - how ocp is trip and how ocp is reset.

during heavy game play with cpu loaded and gpu loaded.

pc crashes and then permanently shutdown. this looks like "the ocp kicked in."

only way to restart the pc is to disconnect the psu power from the wall for a few seconds. this looks like "resetting the ocp."

nvm. found one of jonnyguru old post from 2012 that confirms so.

"If OCP trips, the PSU SHUTS DOWN!!!!!!!

The shut down is actually within the PSU. The only way to reset an OCP shut down in the PSU is to flip the switch on the back of the PSU off and then back on again. So even if your motherboard is set to "power on after power failure" set in the BIOS, it would not power back on or reset, unless you cycle the switch on the back of the power supply first."

nvm. found a repost on ocn by johnnyguru.

"Let's imagine you have a short circuit on the +12V and the SCP (Short Circuit Protection) doesn't catch it. If you have a single rail power supply the draw on that one +12V wire and that one +12V trace will climb until either the combined OCP point is reached, or until something burns; the cable, your power supply, your motherboard. With large units, usually something will burn before the OCP point is reached."

How the OCP works will depend on the PSU. For example, on a Seasonic X1000, there is only a single rail. However, each plug (dual 6+2 connectors)has OCP at 500W. Try to pull more than that from it, and the PSU will shut down. I'm not sure how the AX1500 handles OCP.
