:)

Actually surprised that I got what I was looking for from my new system... I have to thank too many people here that helped me put this together. Probably not much of a big deal to most of you, but....

Here's the new rig...

EPoX 8K5A2+
AMD XP1600+ (AGOIA) (how do you know what week?)
256 MB Samsung PC2700 Ram
Thermaltake Volcano 7+
etc....

I finally got the guts up to make some changes to overclock. I increased the voltage to 1.8 and set the CPU to 166 and Fastest setting (Turbo setting is ok too)

Boot up shows my Memory as PC2700 (was showing PC2100 before.....)
FSB is 332?
AMD XP2100 (1743 166X10.5)
No load temperature is 41C with the fan set to lowest/quietest setting.

I'm pretty jazzed about this.

What do you all think? Am I missing something?

I'm pretty happy with this

Nice overclock. 41 is an excellent idle temp. Did you use arctic silver 3? Any additional case fans? I have a very similar setup (8k5a2/agoia/volcano 7+/corsair pc3200) at 1.85 GHz/1.80 V and it idles at 46-47 with the fan on medium. You could probably hit 1.9 GHz if the RAM can handle it. Good job man.

Yeah... I wanted to cover all the bases so I'm using Artic Silver 3... worked for probably an hour and a half on mounting the processor on the heat sink correctly. I also mounted 2 80mm fans in the back of the case to make sure there is plenty of air flow. And the previous set up was an AMD K6-III 450 with PC133 mem... so I'm quite pleased with what I have now. I think I'll leave it alone. :)

I read probably every post at this website concerning upgrading the computer and cooling and OCing and motherboards... etc. Sure glad I found my way here.

Now, lets go see what the temp gets to with a load..... time for some fun!!
