Over 25 years and over 15 different systems later I have my first death

Sigh, first time ever had a system die on me, or have problems with one (besides the NES cartridge not staying down).

I'm kinda angry in someways and in other ways not surprised at all.

Surprised cause the system is rarely ever played outside of some arcade titles, it gets more use as a media center when I watch a movie at night in bed.

Not surprised since it is a launch unit. Damn thing had other little problems too, it would turn off if I tried to play a game and the power brick isn't in a well ventilated area, the quadrant lights to let you know how many controllers are on on the system would constantly jump between quad 1 and 2 with just one controller on. To top it off, the front USB door only closes half way and I used it one time lol.

Had no actual warnings it was going to die though. Turned it on a few mins ago to pick out a movie and it was stuck on the 360's start up animation, restart it and RROD, over and over again.

Go to the repair website for it, and of course something is wrong with the site at the moment cause when I fill in the info for registering a new device it gives me an error of some sort and the call center is closed.

lol, I'm so glad there isn't anything coming out for it right away that I want to play. Only good thing to come from this is gonna be getting the quadrant and USB door thing fixed heh

Since it was a launch unit, you should feel fortunate  Alot of people never had their launch system last no where near that long. It shouldnt take all that long to get one back from Microsoft, if your sending it in that is.

Which version is it ? Arcade ? Pro ?

I'll be sending it in, gotta call up MS, just woke up lol. It was the Pro version.

Forgot about that problem with the NES Mugs. Been awhile since I have turned mine on. I normally just run an emulator for my older systems now instead of hooking them up due to space issues, same with all the games, those cartridges take up too much room.

What is the general turn around time from calling to get it repair to getting it back in your hands?

Three to four weeks. Two if you're lucky.

Or maybe it's 2-3, and 1 if you're lucky...

I had mine die last Christmas and I think I had to wait about 3 or 4 weeks. But that was around the holidays.

Yeah I don't blame you. Apparently they took the lockout chip out of the redesigned top-loading NES that they released after the SNES came out. I've never seen one of those in person, outside of the box. Apparently there are a lot of NES clones out now too, and they don't have the issue either. But personally, I'd rather play NES games on my DS.

Just got off the phone with them. Guy said 2-3 weeks, pretty much as you said R Nila, thanks, I hope it isn't a month.

The one thing that pisses me off, they wont send me a box to send it to them. Now I gotta find a box for this thing. I would use the original one I bought the system in but I know I wouldn't get it back 🙁

I submitted an RMA request online on a Friday (August 22nd) at about 10pm the box showed up Tuesday (August 26th) I mailed it out that day and I had my 360 back Monday (September 8th) which wasn't bad at all considering I lost a day due to Labor Day as well. Most of that time was just due to shipping however (3-4) days from California and my replacement was sent out the same day they received it.
