Oven Cleaning

On my eletric stove, I have those silver rings that the coils lie on. I used brillo to clean the top of the rings and it worked well. however, inside of the rings is dirty and i can't get brillo in there. is there a chemical i can use to loosen or remove the hard grease or should i just use a small steel brush?

Yeah, I don't get it.

Those things are so annoying to clean. I usually just get foil liners or throw them away when they get really bad. It's only like $5 for a 4 pack, so at some point it's almost cheaper than keeping them clean.
