Hey all!

My SGS2X is really weird. It's new from last december.

Since march, the screen of the phone is "marked" with an oval oily spot right in the middle of the device and covering almost all the screen. The oval spot is centered and about 1/4 inches from the 4 sides. It's huge.

Don't know what's that...I can clean the screen and it's crystal clear and as soon as I put it in my pants pocket, after 1 minute the spot is back...

What is this!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: No it's not dirty pants :p

Its probably a defect in the glass. I have one on the back of my ip4. When I clean with alchohol it looks like its gone but any touching will make it appear again.

No screen protector...it's pretty weird.
I can wipe it off and it comes backs everytime with the exact same shape!

It may very well be that the screen's oleophobic treatment wearing out.

Yeah thats why I was wondering how he had cleaned it.

Also if you slap a decent screen protector on there and you can see the problem anymore it would point to that as well.

That's exactly it!

So applying a screen protector would solve that problem?

Well if the oleophobic coating ( its a coating that stops the oils from your skin building up on the screen) is wearing off then a new screen protector with a decent oleophobic coating would do the same job as your original screen.

Unfortunately I dont know of a screen protector thats as good as the original screen, and I've been through a few.

I'm sure someone will come up with some suggestions though.

On a different note my spell check keeps changing oleophobic coating to homophobic coating o_O

Are you sure it's not pressure from your pocket physically compressing and distorting the device such that the LCD makes direct contact with the underside of the glass?

If I sat on my phone in my back pocket, that's what would happen, and it looked like an oily spot in the middle of the screen, until the LCD and the glass "unstuck" from each other.

If the SGS2X is like the SGS2 then the screen is bonded to the SAMOLED. Theres no way to get them apart without causing serious damage.
