Outsourcing sucks! Oracle having people at the Rocklin site train their replacements...

so sad 🙁 🙁 🙁

Cmon, employees, fight back and threaten to quit without training them if you won't keep your job.
We need mass rallies to stop this! I'd hate to be a manager in the US and have my whole team replaced by people in India... it's a pain the *ss to manage people so far away. You know the saying, when the boss is away, the mice will play...

I guarantee there will be a huge outsourcing backlash by 2008. Both with productivity complaints, rising wages in India reducing the cost advantage, and MAJOR communication problems happening.

The companies just don't care dude. While training costs the most amount of money in any corporation, the company is gonna be happier if it's regular employees just up and quit. They won't have to continue benefits, pay pensions, etc. if the employees up and quit. Nor would they be in breach of contract if the employees are union.

In the long run, the employment market in India works dirt cheap and can be considered slave labor for the most part. These people are eager for the kickass (and not-so-kickass) jobs we once had at a quarter the wage, because it's more than they've ever had. They look at the US and our lifestyle over the past 20 years and say "I want that", and their work ethic and drive put forward the numbers making us look lazy and overpaid.

It's going to keep happening unless you're in a service industry - expect to be replace by outsourcing.

The Indians don't necessarily work dirt cheap. A $10,000/per year employee over there can live very well. Its just a different economic scale and it works in the Indians favor now.

Ah, so when you say India's labor market "can be considered slave labor for the most part", you're defining slaves as 'people who enthusiastically desire to work'.

Interesting definition of slavery.

For tech support this ___might___ work. But the growing trend now is to outsource software development/engineering work. It looks good on paper initially, but from what I'm seeing, the cost of airfare bringing the consulting team to & from meetings won't take long to exceed the would-be-American salaries.

LOL..Oracle needs to Outsource it's Accounting Dept. Maybe they can outsource Larry Ellisons position too! Anybody in India looking to be "Chief Dickhead and Lying SOB"?

100% agreed.

We'd all better hope so 😕

The backlash will occur before 2008.

All these Companies doing this will fall into the trap they made for themselves. They must be declared as foreign Companies and give up any benefits of being labeled as an American Company.
