new deal on outpost, how is this? price-wise?

Anyone have the L70S? your opinion?

By the way, how much response time does this thing have? Doesn't say here.

I ordered one of these from Outpost the last time it was $279, so I've had it for 3-4 weeks now.
I'm very happy with it. No dead pixels, very bright display. Of the 3 monitors I have, I'd
rate it the best, ahead of the Cornea and the Neovo LCDs.

Response time has been reported at 16ms. Hyundai does make LCD panels, the HyDisp (sp?)
panels have 20ms response time, but were rated by Tom's hardware as the best gaming
panels. Some 16ms panels have to activate/deactivate sub-pixels and so there is more ghosting
than on the 20ms panels.

I play Doom3 and PainKiller without any ghosting.

I searched all over the place including Hyundai's site and couldn't find any official posting as to the response time on this monitor. I did find a place selling this that declares it to be 12ms but if this display was really 12 ms one would think they would be proudly mentioning that fact all over. Anyway here is the link to that site: Overclockers UK

On a positive note, I have waded through a lot of feedback from users on this monitor and the feedback is generally very positive. For a non-DVI display I think I would bite if I was in the market.

It's 16ms and not 20ms as reported by some people. I don't remember where right off hand but I found several reputable sources that said this panel indeed as a 16ms response time when I was looking ot buy one.

Btw, I have it and it's a great display!

I saw a reference on FW that mentioned Hyundai might be using Sharp panels.

I never found a valid reference to this monitor's response time. Just comparing it to the Cornea
and Neovo (both rated at 16ms), the Hyundai is definitely as good or better. No signs of ghosting
that I can see.

As for 'HyDisp' panels, my memory isn't too good on this, but it was part of a 17" LCD review
that was on Toms Hardware, so a search over there might yield results. I do remember that
they said it was a better panel for gaming than some of the earlier 16ms panels. Things may have
changed since then.

Have had mine for about a year. Excellent!!! Probably the best value in an LCD out there. Had a big problem with the $100 rebate with mine (took 6 months due to a screwup from Hyundai, but it was resolved with one phone call).

Truthfully, I don't think DVI adds anything on 17" and smaller LCD's.

I got one this Monday at a local Fry's, but it has a dead, stuck-on red sub pixel in the middle right region. I wonder if I should try to get a replacement...

So does anyone know anything about who makes the actually panel? I've heard samsung or sharp, and hyundai sticks its name onto it.

Yes, go and exchange it before their 30 day return policy expires.

Fry's plays with their price a lot. They intentionally make price errors in their ads and claim that it is just a price error. If the response isn't great for their stock, they might sell it as advertised. If they think they get a good response, they don't care if that is ethically correct or not.

Well, I do buy regularly from Fry's but it isn't my favorite just because of it. So please beware.

Hyundai makes there own panels, they do not use Samsung or Sharp. Many manufactures use Hyundai panels in there high end LCD products.

And I have never had a problem returning anything to Fry's. Never used the Outpost.com though.

Thats funny. I had one with the same exact problem. Anyways, I exchanged it for another one on Wednesday and it has no problems so far. I check for dead/stuck pixels every time I use the computer. Anyways, tell them you have a stuck pixel and its too distracting, and exchange it for another one. Sunnyvale Fry's gave me no problems at all.

According to Tom's hardware they use Samsung panels now and stopped making their own panels. at least that is what the case was in December.

I'm learning to hate this LCD. This is the 2nd one I've had. The problem is, I'll turn it on, it'll blink on the screen for a tenth of a second, then go black again. I had a problem with the 2nd one awhile back where the screen went really dark, but I managed to work my way through the menu and do the screen reset to fix it, I'm hoping maybe that'll work this time, except I can't see the menu at all to do it. Can someone post the button order you need to push to do a hard reset of this monitor, or any other help you can offer for this problem. I'm going to be super pissed if I have to RMA this again.
