Some of the ones coming out of Outpost now are SSE3 and 64bit enabled, others are still 90nm Palermo but not 64bit/SSE3. Don't ask me why the 3100+ is cheaper than the 3000+...must just be a sale. The only difference between models (stepping aside) is that the 3000+ has 128KB of L2 cache, while the 3100+ has 256KB. Both are 1.8ghz chips.

That's what I figured......

The extra cache should make a fairly big difference IMO. I would go for the 256KB model.

Users on these boards ran benches with various model Semprons (both 256KB and 128KB chips) in my old Palermo overclocking thread, which I can't seem to find archived any longer, but the consensus was that the difference in cache amounted to 10% performance in CPU limited resolutions in some games, but mostly just 5% performance difference in most other things. It's really not that bad.

I still recommend the 256KB chips, though, since like I mentioned they are rarely more than a few extra bucks.

Mine is Paris with 64-bit but no SSE3. Unless you are saying that these 3100+'s are different than OEM 3100+'s that come with bundles.

A 130nm Paris with 64bit? That's interesting.
