I know this is not a hot deal right now, but it should interest alot of users on the board. Outpost.com has announced they have just aquired CMPExpress. I have not had any deals with them, could this be a good thing or bad? They state their core purpose will stay the same, product selection. customer service. free overnight delivery. Any good deals in the past from CMPExpress?

I can't say anything about hot deals from CMPExpress, but I can vouch for their customer service. I ordered a digital camera from them a couple years ago via overnight shipping. I received an invoice that stated standard shipping, so I emailed the CSR that afternoon. She called me back within 15 minutes and worked out the problem and the camera arrived on time. To top it off, I got a $25 GC for the "trouble" which wasn't really trouble at all. I hope Outpost keeps up the sort of service that CMPExpress has established. Or at least keep the same CSRs!

I purchased HP CD-Rs from them years ago. Their prices were good and customer service was very helpful when I inquired about orders. I recall CMP providing very good prices. It sounds like a good integration to me.

I vaguely remembered that they there the first internet company I ever bought from three-four years ago, and their prices were excellent and the selectioon huge. Though the layout was seriously crappy and you couldn't find the thing you wanted even though you knew they sold it...

It's pretty much the same way with Outpost...Difficult to find things if you don't know what you are looking for. The prices and free shipping are more than worth the trouble. Long Live Outpost...Hurray! I also hope that Outpost will follow CMP's customer service traits.

CMPExpress was also the first place I purchased from online about three years ago. I ordered a pair of Cambridge MicroWorks and I recall being very satisfied with both the price and the prompt receipt of the item. Chalk this up as another post in support of this move :).
