Perhaps, but not as nice as the deal Fry's (yes, it's not technically the same as Outpost since you have to actually go to a store, but still...) had on the exact same card last week--$79.99 minus $10 MIR.

Yes that was last week, but my point is that the current deal is warm at best.

Considering it's the lowest the lowest price of any online vendor, some people might consider this a hot deal. Lowest price from pricewatch is 92.00 from someplace called digi4me.com with a 30 day warranty.

Well if the current deal is considered "hot", then last week's deal was definitely "hotter"...

In any case, whether a deal should be considered hot is all subjective and/or relative--my point was that regardless of whether someone thinks that the current deal is hot, it definitely isn't THE hottest one ever...at least up to this point. Like I said, there was a better deal on this same CF card last week...at the same place (Fry's/Outpost), with the same base price ($79.99). IOW--the "hot" deal referenced at the beginning of this thread could have been had at the same $79.99 price last week...so, why is this item now a hot deal this week?

And just so that there's no confusion here--the above argument pertains only to Fry's/Outpost.

I just posted it.
I do know that Frys had it + a $10 rebate last week.
That doesn't mean this isn't a good deal.
And it's not like you will actually get your Fry's rebates anyway, in my experience.
I averaged no better than 50% on my Fry's rebates over the 9 years I used to live in LA.

90% of the country doesn't have Frys as an option, unless you want to do it over the phone.
And doing deals over the phone with Frys is Russian Roulette, since about half their products are returns.

But anyway, yes you are correct this isn't the "Hottest deal ever" on this card.
It is the hottest deal "currently" on this card.
Would you like me to change the title to reflect that????

Just a followup on the speed of this card.
I tested it on my home system which has an internal USB2 reader.
I got the following results:
Write: 4.5 MB/s
Read: 5.5 MB/s

Theoretically it performs at about 40x.
I have no other fast cards to test with, so I don't know if these are the maximum speeds of the card, or my reader.
Either way, that is great performance for an $80 1GB card.
